Fragrance of Dark Coffee: Coffee Culture in Japan

Following my obsession with Tokyo Ghoul, this 1-hour panel goes into how coffee and café culture in Japan differentiates from ours in the UK. There are huge differences - the prevalence of espresso in Europe vs the filter coffee that was first brought to Japan from the Netherlands and remained in the culture, flavour preferences including how commonly bitterness features in Japanese food, and more fine details that might show you why Brewster's way of running a takeaway café is so different from your typical train station kiosk in Britain. Even the beans that feature in Japanese cafés are much harder to come by in the UK!
In this panel I also brewed some black filter coffee using a Japanese coffee set so as to share the flavour profile with attendees. Yum!
